Search the Beltrami County Court Docket

Bemidji anchors Minnesota's Ninth Judicial District, and the courthouse there handles every Beltrami County case heard by the district bench. Pull up the statewide case search first. A name, citation number, or attorney bar number retrieves the public register of actions, and the court publishes courtroom calendars showing what a given morning holds on the Beltrami County court docket. When the screen comes up short, Court Administration in Bemidji fills the gap: staff retrieve older paper files, print certified copies, and explain why certain family, juvenile, and sealed matters stay off remote search. Write down the full case number before calling.

Beltrami County MCRO Search Fields

MCRO puts the Beltrami County court docket within reach. It does not make every case a fully open online file. Searching by person takes a last name and a first name. Add a middle name, date of birth, filing date, case category, or case status to narrow things down. Start with exact matching. After at least two characters you can add a trailing wildcard. Sounds Like is a separate option. It cannot be combined with that wildcard.

A case-category checkbox in a Beltrami County search is not an outcome. Civil, Criminal, Family, and Probate or Mental Health label the MCRO category and nothing more. They say nothing about which party prevailed, whether a charge was proved, or whether the case can still be downloaded remotely.

Court Dockets: What They Show

Think of a Beltrami County Register of Actions as a chronological index, not a story. One line lists what happened and when. The entries can carry the court and case number, the category, filing date, status, assigned judicial officer, party roles, public filings, hearing settings, orders, and a public disposition field. The line only means the document reached the court. That does not mean a remote link exists. A hearing line marks a scheduled event until the later record shows what took place.

Case numberA court-assigned locator, such as the observed 04-CR-26-#### criminal calendar format.
Case headerCourt, county, category, status, filing date, location, and judicial officer.
Register entryA dated filing, notice, order, setting, payment, or other docketed event.
SettingDate, time, location, hearing type, officer, connection or role, and later result where public.
Public documentA linked filing or order only when its date, case type, and access status permit display.
DispositionA plea, finding, dismissal, judgment, sentence, or other final event when publicly shown.

The daily calendar and the ROA serve different jobs in Beltrami County. The calendar locates a current setting. The ROA supplies the case history around it.

Beltrami County ROA Number Clues

The Beltrami County daily calendar offers code clues, though only clues. The county prefix is 04. Codes seen on the calendar include CR for criminal, VB in payable or non-mandatory traffic matters, CV for civil, CO for conciliation, PR for probate, and JV for juvenile. An older probate-style P7 shows up too.

Register of Actions
The dated list of public case activity, filings, proceedings, and other docketed events.
Setting
A scheduled court event, not by itself a completed hearing or result.
Inactive
An MCRO status label that does not by itself mean a case was sealed, dismissed, or decided in a particular way.
Conciliation
A small-claims type of setting; a CO code is an observed local clue, not a complete code manual.

These codes come from the official Beltrami County calendar, not a statewide table. Copy every digit and punctuation mark when a number is known. Ask Court Administration to confirm any uncertain historical format.

Beltrami County Courts and Their Dockets

One Minnesota trial-court location serves the matters covered here. It is Beltrami County District Court, part of the Ninth Judicial District. Original jurisdiction sits with the District Court. It covers civil, family, probate, juvenile, criminal, and traffic cases filed in the county. The county operates no separate criminal court, civil court, justice-of-the-peace docket, or independent city-court docket. That holds for Bemidji, Blackduck, Wilton, Kelliher, and Tenstrike alike.

The Ninth Judicial District coordinates a multi-county district. It still does not replace the Beltrami County courthouse as the place to ask about a local case file or certified copy.

Beltrami County Calendar and MCRO

For the public day's settings, Beltrami County posts a daily calendar PDF. The official court page says it goes up at 7:00 a.m. each business day. It gets hourly updates. Each row carries the party name, hearing location, hearing date, time, judicial officer, hearing type, and connection or role. The case number appears there too. MCRO Hearing Search works differently. It runs as an interactive statewide query by name, case number, officer, attorney, date range, category, and Beltrami location. Facing an urgent Beltrami County court date, check MCRO against the PDF. Check the notice already in hand too. The court names the printed calendars posted outside courtrooms and in public areas as the most current daily information. Confidential and non-remote matters may be left out. A missing row does not mean a setting was canceled.

Court Dates and Settings in Beltrami County

A Beltrami County setting carries a precise procedural meaning. Labels seen on the public calendar include arraignment, pre-trial, omnibus hearing, plea hearing, sentencing, motion hearing, scheduling conference, conciliation hearing, court trial, review hearing, and order to show cause hearing. The label says what was set for that date and no more. It does not prove the hearing happened. It does not explain the ruling or turn an earlier date into the current one. After any continuance or reset, read the later ROA entry. A new setting can displace an old one. An omitted calendar row may just reflect a confidential or non-remote matter. The Beltrami County court schedule walks through the date, room, and reset routes in detail.

Beltrami County Missing-Case Route

A Beltrami County docket search sometimes comes up empty. The reason is usually mundane. MCRO runs on exact-match searching, so a slight spelling difference hides the case. Try a county filter or a date range. A category, a citation number, or the full file number may also surface the case. Defendant-name searches can also miss pending criminal, traffic, and petty-misdemeanor matters that lack a conviction. Coverage of remote documents varies for older files and certain categories too.

Use the local fallback chain. Check the full case or citation number, try the appropriate MCRO tab, review Hearing Search and the daily calendar, then use the courthouse terminal or contact Court Administration about public access.

Beltrami County Court Administration can tell you where a file sits: local storage, remote public view, restricted status, or an access order. It cannot turn a nonpublic record into a public download. But it can point you to the official route.

Docket Access Under Minnesota Law

Minnesota court-access rules govern Beltrami County court records. This is not a generic county-data request process. Inspection at the courthouse, copying, and remote access are three different things. They overlap only partly. A document may be missing from remote MCRO. It can still be reachable through an authorized local route at the courthouse. Restricted identifiers and case types stay governed by the applicable rule, statute, or court order.

Key public-access rules:

Minn. Stat. §13.90 places judicial-data access under Supreme Court rules rather than the general Data Practices Act.

Minnesota Rule of Public Access 8 governs inspection, copying, remote access, and exclusions for judicial records.

Minnesota General Rule of Practice 11 addresses restricted identifiers and the confidential-information filing process.

Minn. Stat. chapter 260B supplies the juvenile-court confidentiality framework.

Ask the right question first. Is the item open to ordinary public inspection, reachable through remote MCRO or a courthouse terminal, or does it need a confidential-record request such as CON100? A restricted label only describes access status. It says nothing about the case outcome.

Beltrami County Court Terminal Access

Remote MCRO is not the only electronic view of a Beltrami County court docket. Minnesota access guidance covers this. Courthouse public-access terminals give the most complete electronic access to statewide public case records. The Beltrami County counter offers help too. Staff can find a paper file still stored on site. Records held offsite may take longer than a same-day counter request. Turn to the terminal or counter when a public search falls short. Use it for an older record or a document not available remotely. Turn there too when the request calls for certified or exemplified copies. The terminal still follows access rules. It is a better public-access channel, not a way around a sealed, confidential, or restricted record.

Written copy requests by mail are another option. Parties plus authorized filers can use Minnesota eFile and eServe where the court permits. A non-party should ask Court Administration for the correct administrative route. Don't open an e-filing account for someone else's record. If a record is restricted, ask the office. It can say whether a court order or a confidential-information request is required. Keep the case number, document name, and copy type together when you ask. That makes local review faster and cuts the risk of requesting the wrong record.

How the Clerk Keeps Docket Records

Minnesota names the local docket office Court Administration. It is not a separately branded Beltrami County clerk of court. Court Administration maintains the local district-court Register of Actions and the case records behind it. Need an older file or a certified copy? The office can also resolve a calendar conflict or answer a public-access question. This is the office to call, especially for anything free MCRO access cannot finish.

Uncertified documents through MCRO cost nothing. Certified and exemplified products come from Court Administration, not a downloaded screen. For more request choices and county fee details, see the Beltrami County court case records information.

Beltrami County Copy Choices

Beltrami County treats five things as distinct. They are the public ROA, a filed document, a certified copy, an exemplified copy, and a transcript. The ROA is just a chronological index. A filed document is the real complaint, motion, order, or judgment behind an entry. A transcript records spoken proceedings separately. Phone in asking for a copy of the case. Court Administration may lack the detail. It may not quote a fee or even locate the request.

A mail request should name the county and court. Include the case number when known, plus a non-sensitive locator. State the exact document or date range, the copy type you want, your delivery method, contact information, and payment if a charge applies.

Beltrami County Treatment Court Tracks

Beltrami County Drug Court and Beltrami County DWI Court are specialty program tracks inside the District Court case system. The official treatment-court information lists both programs at the Judicial Center. Coordinator Allie McGrath handles program logistics. Her number is (218) 333-4120. It offers no separate public specialty-court docket database. A public underlying case may still appear through MCRO or the daily calendar. Ordinary access limits still apply.

Read the calendar carefully. Review hearings, probation-violation hearings, pleas, and sentencing are just calendar terms in a case. The program label alone reveals no private treatment information and establishes no disposition.

Beltrami County Courthouse History

The official Beltrami courthouse history page traces a court system that grew from a nineteenth-century courthouse setting into modern statewide electronic access. Beltrami County itself was organized in 1897. The current courthouse went up in 1902–03. A 1973 addition came later. The building still houses Court Administration, public terminals, record requests, and the printed daily calendar.

Beltrami County court docket access at the historic Beltrami courthouse

The building's history carries a practical lesson for any Beltrami County court docket search: there is a remote layer and a local records desk. MCRO helps you locate public information. The Judicial Center remains the authoritative place to ask about copies, a paper file, or a current calendar conflict.

City-by-City Court Dockets in Beltrami County

Beltrami County runs all of its court cases through one District Court, no matter the city. Bemidji, Blackduck, Wilton, Kelliher, and Tenstrike all follow the same route. None of the five has its own municipal docket portal to search.

City Hall in each town is still worth a call. Ask about ordinances, notices, and other city-government records. But a filed case is different. A court date, the public ROA, or a certified court record all come from MCRO and Beltrami County Court Administration. Take any docket search there.

Bemidji Court Records

2020 Census population: 14,574. The county seat and Judicial Center location use the District Court route.

Blackduck Court Records

2020 Census population: 845. City government materials are distinct from the county court record.

Wilton Court Records

2020 Census population: 263. A county-maintained city contact does not replace the District Court route.

Kelliher Court Records

2020 Census population: 258. City Hall and Court Administration have separate civic roles.

Tenstrike Court Records

2020 Census population: 186. MCRO, the calendar, terminal, and Court Administration remain the court channels.

Census figures rank these places by population. They say nothing about court filings or how busy a criminal docket might be in any given town. Each city record page keeps that line clear while still giving you the local routing details you need.
